A SPECTACULAR Victorian extravaganza is returning to Weymouth this weekend.

The Ragged Victorians and more feature in a programme of family-friendly activities - taking you right back to the Victorian era at the Nothe Fort.

You can expect historic military demonstrations from the Nothe Fort Garrison, The Rifle Brigade, and The Bluejackets Re-enactment Society.

There will also be displays from a Victorian scientist and surgeon, plus an array of traditional crafts including blacksmithing, thatching and more.

Last year’s huge hit was Punch & Judy, which will be rejoining for this year’s event.

And a highlight is the return of the ‘Ragged Victorians – The Great Unwashed’ - award winning, living history group portraying the life and tales of the lower classes in Queen Victoria’s rule.

Co-General Manager, Mary-Anne Edwards, said: “This weekend is one of our favourite events within our programme.

"The way history can be told through an immersive experience and create a fun environment for our visitors to learn all sorts of things they may not yet know, it’s what we love so much about the reenactors and stalls that come to the event year after year."

* The event takes from 10am – 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
