A LORRY driver has been ordered to pay more than £400 after using his phone at the wheel in Dorset.
Martyn John Darch, aged 63, of East Burton Road, Wool, was on his mobile in his Volvo truck in Ringwood Road, Ferndown, on August 22, 2022, a court heard.
Darch pleaded guilty to a charge of using a handheld mobile phone device while driving a motor vehicle on a road.
He was sentenced in his absence at Weymouth Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, August 1.
Darch was fined £247, told to pay a victim surcharge payment of £98 and costs of £90, equalling a total to pay of £435, which he must pay by Tuesday, August 29.
He has also been given six points on his driving licence.
