RESIDENTS who were in Weymouth during D-Day are being sought to help put together a special exhibition.
The 80th anniversary of Operation Overlord is on June 6, 2024, and the Nothe Fort together with Weymouth Museum are planning on a joint event and exhibitions to commemorate this.
Along the south coast Allied forces prepared for what would become the largest seaborne invasion in history.
Many American GIs destined for Omaha beach passed through Weymouth.
A spokesman said: "The anniversary, June 6, has a tremendous significance in the history of Weymouth.
"We want to hear the first-hand testimony of any residents who were in Weymouth at the time."
Any resident who recalls these days (some may have been children and talked to the American soldiers) is asked to email weymouthmuseumchair@btinternet.com
