Find out more about an initiative giving new life to old items at a meeting of the Dorchester Townswomen’s Guild.

On Monday, February 12, after a short business meeting at 2pm, Ros Dean and Judy Luffman will be talking to the members of the guild about the Repair Café.

Ros Dean founded the Repair Café in Weymouth in 2019. It is run by 50 volunteers with about 30 present at each event, of which 15 of those are repairers who fix items as the visitor watches, saving them from a trip to the tip.

Items that can be fixed range from electronics, laptops and gadgets, tool sharpening, gluing, clocks and sewing.

There is no charge, only a donation. Ros was an engineer/programmer and has worked on satellites for the European Space Agency.

The meeting will take place in Dorchester Community Church, Liscombe Street, Poundbury, Dorchester, DT1 3DF.

Visitors are most welcome for £3. Tea and coffee will be available. Call 01305 832857 with any enquiries.
