BINGO! A Weymouth woman has won £50,000 at a bingo hall in Weymouth after winning the national jackpot prize.

Leo Leisure in Crescent Street hosts two rounds of bingo every day.

As part of the games, there is also a national prize up for grabs as players compete with other bingo halls across the country for a combined jackpot.

If a player completes a full house within 16 numbers they win a jackpot of £50,000.

A woman from Weymouth became the lucky winner of the jackpot on Monday, March 11.

The anonymous Weymouth woman won the jackpot having reached a full house on the sixteenth number.

Billy Gerrie, manager of Leo Leisure Weymouth, said: "The winner was one of our regular players, she has been coming here and playing bingo for over ten years.

"Myself and some of the staff were having jokes with her beforehand about that exact game, saying that one day she will win the £50k jackpot.

"It was a massive shock for her and for all of us and I doubt she has got over it yet.

"I have worked here on and off since 2010, when it was Buzz Bingo and Gala Bingo previously.

"It is the first time in over ten years I can ever remember the national jackpot being won."

Mr Gerrie said news of the jackpot win has already seen an uptake in new players coming in to try and have a go at the jackpot.

He added: "After the win on Monday afternoon, we put it on Facebook and we already had an uptake in new members by the evening session that day.

"We play two games a day and the national jackpot is up for grabs in every game."

Alongside the national game, players can also compete for an in-house jackpot at every session of bingo played.

Prize money varies from £30 to £500 for in-house jackpots with a guaranteed winner on every game.
